Fitness enthusiast and reviewer from Berlin

A Brief Overview

I am Lena Schmidt, based in Berlin, and for the past several years I have been chronicling my experiences at gyms across Germany.

This site came about after tiring of selecting fitness centers from ads and broad suggestions, only to find the real experience didn't match. I sought clear, truthful details about what these venues were really like, and since I couldn't locate them, I chose to build them.

Origins

My workout routine began at a modest gym near Pulsweg 12 in Berlin. It wasn't flawless, yet it was reachable, budget-friendly, and it helped me stay consistent.

When that gym closed, I noticed how fast the fitness scene in Germany was evolving. New clubs opened, new concepts emerged, and marketing grew louder than the actual member experience.

I began testing various gyms and classes, jotting down notes after each visit. Over time those notes became this site, designed to help others make better-informed choices.

My Review Philosophy

All reviews here come from genuine visits and time spent inside each club. I focus on practical details that matter when choosing a membership.

When I review a fitness center, I typically:

  • Invest sufficient time to understand routines, peak times, and trends
  • Visit on various days and at different times
  • Try multiple training formats and coaches
  • Use facilities regularly to assess cleanliness and comfort
  • Talk to other members about consistency and gaps
  • Take notes right after each visit

I revise reviews when major changes occur: renovations, leadership changes, price shifts, or new facilities. Every article displays its last update date so you can gauge how current the information is.

What I Consider Important

My priorities may differ from yours, so here is what matters most to me when assessing a gym:

Comfort and Privacy: Is the space thoughtfully laid out for members, with respectful boundaries and a tranquil vibe?

Equipment Quality: Are the machines well maintained? Is there enough variety? Are repairs prompt?

Crowd Management: Can you train during your chosen times without constant waits?

Clean Facilities: Locker rooms, showers, floors, and equipment surfaces. Cleanliness reflects how seriously management takes the member experience.

Honest Membership Practices: Transparent pricing, clear rules, and no hidden surprises.

Beyond the Gym

Beyond training and writing, I live in Berlin and work there. This project aims to simplify fitness choices and make them more transparent for those seeking the right environment.
